CO-EX External Infusion Tubing
CO-EX™ infusion tubing was developed to prevent the loss of compounds
due to absorption into the tubing, evaporation through the tubing, or alteration
due to the leaching of plasticizers from the tubing. In humans, CO-EX is
used to infuse insulin, nitroglycerine, and Taxol® (Eli Lilly) -- compounds
which are not compatible with traditional PVC infusion tubing. PE tubing
provides improved compound compatibility, but unfortunately it is prone
to kinking. Solomon Scientific's CO-EX provides the best of both: it has
PE on the ID for compatibility and PVC on the OD to
minimize kinking.
The two sizes of CO-EX
are designed to attach to commonly used 22 ga and 25 ga swivels, couplers
and luer stubs.
CO-EX is available in bulk, non-sterile 100 ft (30.5m) rolls. It
is also available in custom pre-assembled sterile infusion
kits, which
include
swivels, tethers and other components. CO-EX is not designed for intravascular
use.
