Fluid Level Control in Tissue Chambers

A number of our customers have been using our Model P720 precision
peristaltic pumps to maintain constant fluid levels in tissue perfusion
chambers. To make this system work we provide you with a dual tube
set which has been deliberately "unbalanced" -- one tube is
shorter than the other. This shorter tube, when stretched around the
pump’s
rotor, will have a smaller cross section and thus will pump at a lower
rate. Attach
the slow tube to the chamber inflow, and the fast tube to the
outflow, as shown. Use a beveled suction tube to prevent bouncing
due to capillary
action.
Features
- Unlike gravity-driven perfusion, solutions can be recirculated.
- The
pump should not disturb sensitive electrical measurements
because its circuitry has been designed to minimize
electromagnetic radiation
and it is powered by a 9V battery or wall-mounted DC
adapter.
- The fluid
level is not subject to pulsations because inflow and
outflow are on the same rotor and therefore in phase.
- Flow rates up to 21
ml/hr are possible with the standard P720 model and 0.031" ID
tubing, 75 ml/hr with .062" tubing. Use model P720/66 for even
higher rates.
- The pump has a small footprint, measuring only 2.5"x4" (6.4x10.2
cm).
- To order, ask for a model P720 peristaltic pump with P720/TS-DBS031SDBSU tube
sets .
