Small Sample Chamber Systems
Each chamber system consists of an anodized aluminum chamber block
with connections for circulating water to keep the electrode and sample
at a constant temperature. The chamber systems are compatible with our
standard polarographic electrodes and the new fiber optic sensors. They
can be set up in two basic configurations:
(1) Batch Cell Mode
For measuring oxygen consumption in a sealed 600 microliter
sample. The batch cell chamber includes a magnetically-coupled stirring
system, connections
for circulating water to maintain a constant temperature, and a unique
window valve for filling, rinsing, or injecting solutions into the
chamber.

(2) Flow Cell Mode
For in-line measurement of oxygen in solutions flowing
past the electrode. This set-up is often used to measure oxygen uptake
of perfused tissues
by measuring inflow pO2 with one channel, and comparing it with the
outflow pO2 as measured by the second channel. Separate high and low
flow cells
cover a range of flow rates.

Low flow cell is typically used unless flow rates past electrode tip
are greater than 15 ml/min (graph applies to polarographic electrodes
only).

The chamber blocks by themselves are sold in two configurations*
600BH - Chamber block with batch and flow cells
600FH - Chamber block with
flow cells only
Electrode, stirring assembly and stirring controller
are not included in these part numbers; if needed, order separately
or order part
number SYS600.
