Bile Reservoir Harness for Rats

Instech Solomon's new bile duct collection reservoir consists of a tether-mounted collection tube with inlet and outlet tubes. The bile duct catheter connects to the inlet, allowing bile to fill the tube at its natural production rate with less than one inch of head pressure to overcome. The short length between the animal and collection tube minimizes wasted dead volume and significant mixing that can occur in longer lengths of tubing.

Collected bile can be pulled out of the collection tube through a swivel as rapidly as needed since it is not directly attached to the animal. Air pulled through the tube behind the sample will clean the exit line for the next sample. This reservoir allows for automated bile sampling using Instech's ABS110 in addition to manual sampling.
